The FedEx Cup moves on to the TPC club in Norton, Massachusetts, which is about 25 miles south of Boston. Originally designed by Arnold Palmer and built in 2003, the course was re-designed by Gil Hanse and Brad Faxon. Gil Hanse of Hanse Golf Course Design is know as one of the best traditional golf course designers in the United States and along with Brad Faxon was commissioned to undertake a re-design with the remit to make the course blend in more naturally with its New England surroundings.

Gil Hanse spent a year in Great Britain studying the earliest examples of golf course architecture and interned with Hawtree and Son, one of the oldest golf course architectural firms in the world. The influence of Hawtree and Son can be seen in Gil Hanse work, preserving and protecting the integrity of the land, maximizing the natural characteristics of the terrain and minimizing human impact on the landscape during construction.

Hanse became only the third American architect to build a course in Scotland when he created Craighead Golf Links, which opened in 1998. Ron Whitten, Editor of Golf Course Architecture said, “This was a refinement and enhancement of a course whose basic structure was sound, not a total renovation or wholesale replacement.”

My picks to win are: Luke Donald 12/1, I did back him last week, but a first round 70 see him shoot himself in the foot. He got back into the tournament with two 66s in the hurricane hit Barclays, which ended up being a 54 hole tournament.

Steve Stricker 14/1 is another player who suffered from the shorted Barclays, rounds of 69, 68, 66 would have put him in great position to challenge in a 72 hole tournament. But I feel those rounds show Steve is in great shape, which should see him challenging this week.

Another of my picks from last week is Brandt Snedeker 40/1 who shot a final round 61 and will be full of confidence coming into the Deutsche Bank Championship and with a win and eleven other Top 25 finishes, could see Brandt picking up the winners cheque come Sunday.

My each way picks are: Camilo Villegas has had a tough season and just scrapped into the FedEx Cup at the Wydham Championship, but with qualification has came a new found confidence and with rounds of 68, 66, 65 and a Top 10 finish at The Barclays, I can see him challenging again this week.

As long as Keegan Bradley 66/1 doesn’t put his arm out pitching tonight at Fenway Park, I can see him getting back on track on the course this week. After winning his first major there was going to be some distractions, but I think Keegan has the game to win several major championships.

YE Yang 80/1 had a fantastic finish to The Barclays moving up 23 places on the final day, shooting a 63, which should see him come into the Deutsche Bank Championship flying high. Of the fifteen tournaments YE has played on the PGA tour this year he has finished in the Top 25 seven times, the Top 10 5 times including a 2nd and 3rd place.
